ABOUT THE CSTB WORKSHOP WEEKEND

Can’t Stop The Blues Dance Workshop July 21-24, 2011 at the Attucks Theatre/Norfolk and sweet studios in Virginia Beach, VA is aimed for ALL levels of Blues dancers – Beginners, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. With four tracks and levels with top Blues Dance instructors from across the nation to help your Blues become “shinier”. Furthering your Blues knowledge to make you a better dancer and better connected to your partner and the music.

INSTRUCTOR STAFF: We put together one helluva crew of Blues instructors from all across the nation to politely kick your butt on the dance floor and make you one heck of Blues Dancer.

CLASS LEVELS
BEGINNER TRACK - Especially made for Blues dancers with little to no Blues Dance experience. (0-3 months)
NOVICE TRACK – Bluesers that got the pulse, but need help refining your skills. (3 mos – 1 year)
INTERMEDIATE TRACK - Working on smoothing out your techniques and getting in the groove. Tryout required. (1-3 yrs)
ADVANCED/MASTERS – Time to start kicking butt and push yourself to channel the Blues Zen. Tryout required. (3+ yrs)

This event is brought to you by the folks who brought you Dirt Cheap Blues, Blues Boot Camp, Gargleblaster Blues, and developed by the minds of countless awesome instructors and input from dancers from all over the country. Class Levels will range from Beginner to Advanced along with additional elective classes tailored just for Bluesers.

ABOUT “CAN’T STOP THE BLUES”

This strange event called Can’t Stop The Blues Workshop Weekend is the brainchild of Jeff Miller & Bryan Spellman. Combining two of their passions: Blues Dance and the Firefly/Serenity TV Series. These two dancers – a.k.a. geeks – met in ’06 at VBLX and had a 2-day long discussion on Blues Music, Blues Dance, Blues Events, Blue Cheese, and anything to do with Blues. And eventually only to see their life go to hell after that – but in a good way.

CATCH UP ON FIREFLY/SERENITY
We also found out that many dancers are also fans of Firefly & Serenity. The movie had a strong recurrent theme and its key quote, “Can’t Stop The Signal”. Signifying the fact that it is impossible to stop the flow of certain information – good or bad.

In the same way, we’re making sure that Blues is a force that goes everywhere and can’t be stopped.

You’ll notice there will be many … and we mean MANY … references to show over the weekend. (Yes, we know … we’re geeks). We HIGHLY suggest that you catch up on watching the series & extras on the either the Science Channel online or on network TV. Also try any online movies (Netflix, Blockbuster, etc), or go pick up the DVD collections with tons of great extras. Plus we highly recommend the movie “Serenity” on DVD with its extras too.
